Linda has served in the memorialization industry since graduating from Illinois State University in 1984. She was the Chief Executive Officer of Greenwood Inc., a family of businesses that includes Sunset Funeral Homes, Sunset Memorial Park, Trigard Burial Vaults, Trigard Memorials, Greenwood Plastics Industries (GPI), Hall of Fame Plaques & Signs and Camino del Sol Funeral Chapel & Cremation Center, until her retirement in 2025.
Community has always been very important to Linda, and she is a former Women’s Care Clinic board member and past president. Linda has also been active in the Global Leadership Summit’s “Step Up Initiative” and is a dedicated volunteer at Second Church of Christ. She has been an executive board member of Vermilion Advantage and is a former OSF board member.
In addition to her local involvement, Linda has been very engaged in the funeral service profession. Most recently, she served as a trustee emeritus of the Funeral Service Foundation and sat on the board of the ICCFA Pet Loss Professionals Alliance. She has also been active with the Women in Funeral Service Foundation. Throughout Linda’s career, she has held various positions on the boards of several associations including FAMIC, ICCFA, ICFHA, IMSA, NCBVA, and the Arizona Funeral Directors Association.
Linda is a passionate and experienced speaker who has presented at national conventions, state shows, and funeral homes on topics focused on helping families heal after the loss of a loved one. She would regularly speak at mortuary science schools across the country, sharing her insights on a wide range of industry-related topics.
As a member of the Darby family, Linda is devoted to giving back to the city of Danville and surrounding areas through public events and scholarship programs. She also dedicates time to spreading joy with her comfort dogs, Aunt Bea and Miss Maizey.
Beyond her professional and community roles, Linda has a fun-loving side. She’s a big fan of Jif crunchy peanut butter, grape gumballs, and popcorn—though not all at once! Linda also enjoys traveling, gardening, and most of all, spending quality time with the people she loves.
